YMCA Adirondack Regional Wellness Center Staff

Description:

The YMCA Adirondack Center is excited to announce the future opening of a Wellness Center located at the Town of Chester office building in Chestertown.

We are currently looking for part time Wellness Center Staff.  Wellness Center Staff  could work up to 25 hours per week.  This position is responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere, listening to and understanding member needs, developing relationships with members, and being knowledgeable about programs and services throughout the Y.  Responsible for member orientations, quality fitness instruction, member service, cleaning mats and equipment, processing membership.

 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Orient new members to the fitness facility and equipment as well as assisting members in proper usage of equipment.
  2. Carry out all policies and procedures within the Wellness Center.
  3. Provide for a strong professional image in conduct, appearance and uniform of staff.
  4. Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all participants in the YMCA Wellness Center.
  5. Ensure that all equipment is clean and well maintained.
  6. Report in a timely manner to the ADK Center Director of Programming any problems, issues or departmental concerns.
  7. Register Center participants using membership software.
  8. Provide general information regarding the facility, memberships and programs.

Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years old
  • Must have experience and a strong interest in the health/wellness or related field. 
  • Personal Trainer Certification preferred.
  • Current certifications in CPR, First Aid, and AED or ability to obtain and maintain.
  • Demonstrated commitment to mission-driven programming and customer service
  • Demonstrated self-motivation
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, organizational, and both verbal and written communication skills
  • General computer literacy
  • Ability to articulate the YMCA mission and programs to staff, volunteers, members and the community
  • Comfortable and confident in dealing with the general public
  • Must understand and contribute to the mission of the YMCA to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.
